SMART WORKS:
Smart Works is a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes, styling, and interview training to women in need, giving women the confidence, self-belief and the practical tools required to succeed at interview and start a new chapter in their life.
At the core of the service is a dressing and interview appointment. Each candidate is guided through a styling and presentation session by one of the Stylists and then given a free outfit suitable for interview. This is followed by dedicated one-to-one interview & coaching session with a senior manager, HR professional or executive coach to enable the candidate to develop confidence at interview with an appreciation of her skill set and techniques to demonstrate her competencies for the role.
This short intervention has a significant impact, empowering clients to start believing in their own ability to succeed.
The charity is supported by women for women. In that last 12 months Smart Works has carried out over 2800 sessions with 60% of those succeeding at interview. The clothes are donated from other women in the professional sector or directly from retailers.
I have been a interview/career coach with Smartworks since first becoming involved in 2014 and have watched it's network, offices and outreach greatly expand in a relatively short space of time due to the power and impact of this simple 2 step intervention.

UpRising
UpRising is a UK-wide youth leadership development organisation. The mission is to open pathways to power for talented young people from diverse and under-represented backgrounds. UpRising equips them with the knowledge, networks, skills, and confidence to fulfil their leadership potential, find new opportunities and transform the world around them through social action. The founding Patrons are former Prime Minister, Rt Hon. David Cameron MP, Rt Hon. Nick Clegg MP and Rt Hon. Ed Miliband MP.
UpRising's flagship programme is a nine month leadership programme providing ‘access behind the scenes’ training sessions with some of the UK’s most senior leaders across the political, private, public and not for profit sectors.
Each participant is individually matched with a coach and a mentor who supports them on a one to one basis throughout their time on the programme. They also work with other UpRisers to design and deliver a social action campaign on a local issue they are passionate about.
