WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

Research clearly indicates that the intelligence of cognitively diverse teams outstrips the intelligence of any sole contributor, and that the more female leaders you have in the team the smarter the team will be. Women have a higher social and empathic intelligence that supports the whole team to become ‘more than the sum of it’s parts’ in order to achieve higher collective performance. Research aside, women are still largely under represented globally on corporate boards despite many companies’ best efforts and commitment to gender equality and aligning the gender pay gap.

Changing the embedded behaviours and mindsets within a system, (organisation, culture, country, globally) is unwieldy and takes time. It can be complex and slow when you consider the many subtaranean currents to navigate, beating beneath the old patriarchal structures that have existed for hundreds of years.

Whilst unconscious bias training and second generation bias have supported raising awareness the problem is not solved as yet, with the ‘playing field’ still not evenly distributed. How do you continue to reset the rules to be a healthier and more inclusive culture and organisation?

THE SYSTEM AND CULTURE: TAKING A SYSTEMIC APPROACH

Changing the system requires taking a ‘whole systems approach’ engaging both men and women as allies and recognising the power and potency of the male and female principles both individually and collectively when leading and recognising that we all inherently have both masculine and feminine qualities.

Crucially  given that female  role models  in the upper tiers of organisations are still comparatively scarce  or visible it is critical to provide women with a dedicated safe setting, a coaching environment to reflect, experiment, learn and hone their ‘leadership identity’: to clarify their purpose and goals, aligned to their personal values and to unlock their authentic and resonant leadership potential

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME

A Women in leadership Coaching programme enables the cohort to discuss their career in a similarly positioned and confidential community- to identify common experiences in their trajectory, take risks and be vulnerable without the fear of judgment or misunderstanding and to be challenged in a safe and respectful environment.

Anchoring to their purpose allows individuals to find and release their unique ‘voice’, helping individuals to recognise and realise their goals and ambitions whilst also being aligned with the strategic business and organisational goals.

In this way a coaching leadership programme supports both the individual and the whole ‘system’, the wider systemic context, enabling the organisation to provide high quality support in creating the environment conducive to success, increasing the female pipeline and the Future leaders of tomorrow.
